About SparkNC

SparkNC is an innovative lab designed to provide students with access to a cutting-edge, technology-based curriculum. Mount Airy High School is 1 out of 17 districts in North Carolina to offer the SparkNC program. This program is open to all MAHS students, empowering them to explore and excel in high-tech fields.

Our self-paced environment fosters creativity and independence, allowing students to dive deep into areas that spark their interest and align with their career goals.

Flexible Participation

Students can enroll in SparkNC as they would any traditional class. Additionally, we offer flexible drop-in times before and after school, as well as during all lunch periods, making it easy for students to engage with the program on their own schedule.

Earn Credit Through High-Tech Learning

Through the High-Tech Learning Accelerator, a groundbreaking model of learning in North Carolina, students can earn one elective credit. To achieve this, students must complete the following requirements:

1. Orientation: Get familiar with the SparkNC program and resources.

2. Modules: Complete six engaging units focused on various technology topics.

3. Capstone Project: Apply your learning to a comprehensive, real-world project.
